The 2022-2023 TRP Fellows

Megan McKinley, Paul Ruffin Fellow, Publicity Fellow

Megan McKinley (they/them) is the Texas Review Press Publicity Fellow, the nonfiction editor for Defunkt Magazine, and social media manager for SWWIM Miami. They were selected to be the 2022 Summer Intern for the National Book Foundation. Their work has been published in Variety Pack, just femme & dandy, and Coffin Bell Journal. Megan primarily writes creative nonfiction that revolves around feminist and queer issues, but occasionally dabbles in writing poetry and odes to their cat. They are completing their MFA at Sam Houston State University in Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing

Miranda Ramírez, Marketing Fellow

Miranda Ramírez is a multidisciplinary artist and writer residing in Houston, Texas. She is a member of the Montgomery County Literary Arts Council, the founder and director of Defunkt Magazine & Press, and the marketing fellow for the Texas Review Press. You may find her work in Atticus Review’s online publication, The Attic, Coffin Bell, Cowboy Jamboree, Cutthroat Journal’s anthology: Puro Chicanx Writers of the 21st Century, and Ripples in Space. Miranda is drafting her first book as an MFA candidate at Sam Houston State University

Brianna Chapman, Editorial Fellow

Brianna Chapman (she/her) grew up in Dallas, Texas. She received her BA in English Creative Writing from Texas Tech University and is currently an MFA candidate for Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing at Sam Houston State University. She is also currently working as an editorial fellow for the Texas Review Press.

Bleah (Blay-uh) Patterson, Editorial Fellow

Bleah (Blay-uh) B. Patterson (she/her) was born and raised in Texas. Former evangelical, former homeschooler, former journalist, she believes in honoring every iteration of herself. She is a poet exploring generational and religious trauma, a current MFA candidate at Sam Houston State University, and an editorial fellow at Texas Review Press. Her work has been published or is upcoming in The Brazos River Review, The Texas Review, the tide rises, the tide falls, and The Bayou Review, among others.

Christina Ellison, Editorial Fellow

Christina Ellison (she/her) received a BFA in Creative Writing from Stephen F. Austin State University and is currently an MFA candidate at Sam Houston State University for Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing. She is also an Editorial Fellow at the Texas Review Press. Her work appears in HUMID 14, HUMID 15, and On Angels’ Wings: A Collection of Writing and Visual Art.

Lindsey Kinane, Editorial Fellow

Lindsey Kinane (she/her) is a former Sam Houston State University BA graduate in English with a minor in Creative Writing. She is currently finishing up her MA in English at Sam Houston State University. She has worked at Iris Technical Communications Suite for the past two years as a senior staff member. Along with Iris, Lindsey works at the Texas Review Press as an Editorial Fellow for half a year. She has work published with Postcards Magazine, a magazine that features places in and around Huntsville, Texas. Some of Lindsey’s work include the Gibbs-Powell Museum, SHSU Planetarium and Observatory, Goodgrass Farms, and Local Haunted Places Tour.

Britt Rose Miller, The Texas Review Fellow

Britt Rose Miller (she/they) is a Gulf Coast Texas native. She is currently a poetry candidate for the MFA in Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing at Sam Houston State University. They work at Texas Review Press as The Texas Review Fellow. Her works have appeared in Atticus Review’s online publication, The Attic. They currently reside in Huntsville, TX, with their dog, Nova.

Kolton Ammerman, Editorial Fellow

Kolton Ammerman (he/him) writes horror fiction or anything with things that go bump in the night. He is an MFA candidate at Sam Houston State University in the Creative Writing, Editing, and Publishing program. His short story “The Fixing Tree” is forthcoming in Phantasmagoria Magazine. He lives in Huntsville, Texas with his wife and two dogs
